Pandion haliaetus.  The Osprey or Fish Eagle as it is sometimes known can be seen in the UK at various sites of open water during the spring and summer months.  This particular image of the bird sat majestically on a post lit by the late evening sun is made even more dramatic by the darkening sky.  I particularly like the angle of view which gives the viewer the impression of looking up at the bird.  I painted the sky first , then the bird and finally the post.  It was very enjoyable from beginning to end.
