I have possessed this old copper kettle for over thirty years and it is tarnished and discoloured due to neglect. However in my opinion it is this that makes it more interesting, having so much character and aesthetic appeal. This was the first time I had painted it. The green glass bottle is from the 1920’s and issued by GF&A Brown and Sons who had a brewery and several outlets throughout Cheshire and North Wales. It was challenging to paint but I thought it looked so well against the warm copper colour that I decided to include it. I thought lemons would complement the colours of the other items well and I included some shiny green leaves for extra interest.
The painting has been framed for exhibition purposes as shown below.
