I intended this to be more of a classic still life, perhaps reminiscent of the old Dutch Masters. I wanted the lighting to be fairly subdued but casting a gentle warm light on to the fruit. The background and table were deliberately kept dark in order to concentrate the viewers eye on to the fruit. I love to place a piece of half cut fruit into the composition to add interest. I was very pleased with the final painting overall and especially pleased with the grapes.

The painting has been framed for exhibition purposes and is shown below. It is available framed and ready to hang. The frame is actually black and not as grey as the picture below.
