A glass of wine, grapes to nibble and a good book.  That is my idea of a perfect night in with peace and quiet and definitely no television. The grapes used in this painting were big, plump and juicy with a large amount of bloom on them.  It was so much fun painting them as realistically as possible. I was almost disappointed when I had finished them and had to move on to another part.  By the way, I tend to paint each object in turn, bringing it almost to completion before I move on to the next one.  I usually start on the left and work down and across.  The first thing I painted on this was the blue book.
