The beautiful orange colour of these satsumas, so vibrant and attractive set against the dark background are what appealed to me when painting this.  The complementary blue cloth adds nicely to the composition.  I am particularly fond of the wooden bowl with its unusual colours and design.  The copper jug appears in many of my paintings – I just love its size, shape and colour.
