I spotted these Sicilian lemons in a supermarket and was attracted at once to their large size and warm colour. I had never before seen Sicilian lemons available for sale so I immediately bought some to include in a new painting. Apparently they are juicier with an oilier skin than many other lemons. The icing on the cake however for me was the fact that the leaves and stalks were still attached, which is fairly unusual. I had a bowl which had a blue lemon design on it, which I thought would be ideal to hold the lemons. I had not painted this bowl before so it was a new challenge and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I was very pleased with how the painting turned out.
